Conference on Domain Name Disputes
In
December 2008, I organized a video conference between Belgrade Law School and
Suffolk University Law School in Boston. Professor Chris Gibson of Suffolk
University lectured over the law school’s state-of-the-art video conferencing
system on global arbitration to resolve domain name disputes. Fulbright
Visiting Professor Thomas H. Koenig of Northeastern University, who is
currently teaching Internet Law in Belgrade, spoke about Serbian Internet Law
as a rapidly growing international transplant. This portion of Belgrade Law
School’s commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Professor Slobodan Jovanovich, the Prime Minister of the Yugoslav
government-in-exile during the World War II Nazi occupation, emphasized his
role in using communication technology to bridge the gap between the Balkans
and the West. More than a hundred students, faculty, Fulbright scholars and
representatives of the media attended this event. There was a lively
interchange between Professor Gibson and the students in the audience. The
Alan Watson Foundation plans to have further video conferences in coming
years promoting international harmony through legal and cultural coordination
and understanding. |
