Alan Watson Foundation
The
Alan Watson Foundation furthers scholarship focusing broadly on the complex
interrelationship between law and society. Since 2007, I have been
coordinating the activities of this research center, including project
design, implementation, representing the center in external communications,
managing cooperation with foreign institutions and aiding individual
scholars. The
Foundation’s website posts recent scholarship on comparative law, legal
history, and law and society issues as well as information about conferences,
resources, publications and other activities in these legal specialties. The
Foundation sponsors an annual contest that awards a $1,000 prize for the
best student essays in legal transplants and the diffusion of law. The
Serbian version of the website contains a large number of major legal history
texts and other sources. A series of international scholarly conferences
dealing with legal globalization will be initiated in the near future. My
favorite projects include the Alan Watson
Foundation Prize, Electronic Paper Collection, the Hebrew University
of Jerusalem Ancient and Premodern Law pages,
and others. The center also provides various services for the students at our
law school. For information on Professor Alan Watson, please visit his
homepage at the University of Georgia School of Law. |
